The different parts of the browser

To guarantee a consistent and cohesive user experience, Firefox's layout generally follows modern web browser layout patterns. Firefox also adapts to each operating system, inheriting some of their UI and layout patterns as well.

Anatomy

The desktop browser layout is broken up into a few areas.

The UI that frames the web content is "the chrome" (tab strip, toolbar, bookmarks, infobar, sidebar, find bar, etc.); Anything found within the web content (viewport) is referred to as "in-content."; And lastly, the line separating these is called the "Line of Trust".
